Jones spent 30+ years working at the Environmental Protection Agency where he was responsible for overseeing the regulation of pesticides and commercial chemicals —managing a team of 1,000 employees and a budget of $250 million. Throughout his career, he has been committed to modernization within the environmental safety industry.
Jones helped lead several successful national sustainability programs, including the “Safer Choice” program and “Green Guidelines” to facilitate and evaluate federal purchasing of green products. Additionally, he directed the updating of the Farmworker Safety and Pesticide Certification and Training during his time at the EPA.
In 2013, Jones was appointed to Assistant Administrator for the Office of Chemical Safety and Pollution Prevention at the EPA after he was nominated by President Obama. Jones also served as Deputy Assistant Administrator in the Office of Air and Radiation, overseeing international activities along with the office’s $810 million budget.
